Founded by Henry Ford at the turn of the century in 1903, the Ford Motor Company is one of the leading auto manufacturers in the world. The headquarters are situated in Dearborn, Michigan and the company manufactures trucks and cars on a global level. They have been successful for more than a century and is part of the major three automobile manufacturers in the world.
The first vehicles offered by Ford were the Model A, and later the Model T: a vehicle that sold more than 16 million units while it was in production. They first introduced the moving assembly line and was therefore the very first automobile designer to utilize cost effective production measures. Later the company purchased Lincoln and Mercury in the '20s, and the '60s saw the introduction of the popular Falcon as well as the amazingly popular Mustang. In the late '70s, Ford continued to expand and took Mazda under its wing, and by the 80's Escorts and Taurus were in production. When they began manufacturing sport utility vehicle's in the '90s the company saw even more successful sales.
