The Infiniti brand was introduced in the United States by Nissan in 1989, to rival luxury cars and sport utility vehicles (SUV) offered by other Japanese brands. They first made an impression on the market with the Q45, a four-wheel drive sedan with the first active suspension system on a motor vehicle. In 1997, Inifiniti became the first non-SUV specialist brand to release a luxurious mid-size SUV that also offered off-road capabilities. However, Nissan would subsequently have financial difficulties, resulting in declining sales of the vehicles. The company then switched focus to develop a line of powerful sport luxury cars. Sales fturned round in 2003 with the G35 entry-level luxury car/compact executive car. Infiniti aims to be the "Japanese BMW" by supplying a range of full-size luxury SUVs; mid-size luxury crossover SUVs; compact executive two-door coupes/four-door sedans with four-wheel drive, and mid-size luxury/executive cars, all bearing a logo that is inspired by the Mount Fuji in Japan. The company's headquarters are in Tokyo, Japan. "
