Lamborghini, manufacturer of classic, exotic, and high performance sports cars, was founded in 1963. Mr. Lamborghini owned a tractor factory at the time, but also owned several sports cars. After spending lots of money and hiring the best designers, such as Gandini and Dallara, his cars closely competed with Ferrari in their body styles and powerful engines. Only 120 350GTs were made at first, but each had a V-12, quad-cam engine that proved to be even faster than its competitor. High costs and the oil crisis forced the sale of his factory in 1972, where production ceased for two years. A number of owners followed him including Rossetti and partner, Chrysler in 1987, and since 1998 the Volkswagen (Audi) group. Numerous modifications and improvements were made including fine leather interiors, Targa roofs, and larger storage space which added to the appeal of the cars in the next few years. Lamborghini represents speed and acceleration, capable of over 200 mph, a real super car. These expensive cars are prestigious and highly valued by those fortunate enough to own one. "
