As the fifth largest Japanese automotive manufacturer and the thirteenth largest worldwide, Mitsubishi Motors has a long history, beginning with the first series-produced vehicle, a Model A, in Japan in 1917. The trademark red three diamond logo dates back nearly a hundred years prior to the beginning of the automotive division of the large Japanese conglomerate. One of the strengths of this automotive corporation has been its ability to form valuable and helpful alliances with other companies, including Chrysler, Hyundai and Volvo. While Mitsubishi has struggled with mechanical problems, including recalls and financial issues largely caused by credit offerings in the United States, the current lineup of models is strong, featuring a sports car, a sedan, a crossover SUV (or XUV) and an SUV. The Eclipse, Galant, Outlander and Endeavor make up the current product line, offering style and comfort that appeal to many people worldwide."
