The Saab is a unique kind of car, with a streamlined design and great performance. The company was originally an aircraft manufacturer, and with the close of World War II and the decline in need for the Swedish military aircraft, the company took things to the streets with the Saab 92 automobile, a two cylinder, two stroke engine car with an incredible drag coefficient.
The company continues to focus on performance and design despite the slight hitch in their history when factories began shutting down in the late 1980's. In 1990, 50% of Saab Automobile was sold to GM with the option for the company to buy the other 50% in a decade. Five years later, they announced their first profit since 1988, and the rest of the company was purchased by GM in 2000. Safety, performance, and style remain top priorities of this auto manufacturer.
