The Cadillac STS has its origins in the upscale performance-oriented versions of the Cadillac Seville. Since 2005, the STS has been Cadillac's international flagship model. Utilizing the Sigma rear-wheel drive platform developed by General Motors Corporation (GM), the STS is the first sedan offering an option of all-wheel drive. Its 17-inch wheels can also be replaced with 18-inch 14-spoke aluminum wheels. STS sedans are all completed with leather finished seats, dual-zone climate control, and OnStar turn-by-turn navigation with options for a Bose sound system, head-up display of driving information, and High Intensity Discharge headlamps. Engine specifications on the 2007 model is 302 horsepower 3.6L V6 with 252 lb-ft torque, while the 2008 STS has a 298 horsepower 3.6L V6 direct-inject engine with 268 lb-ft torque mated with Hydra-Matic 6L50 six-speed automatic transmission. Introduced at the 2006 New York International Auto Show, the 2008 Cadillac STS is also packed with safety features such as StabiliTrak stability control system developed by GM; Magnetic Ride Control Suspension; side blind spot monitoring system, and lane departure warning.
