The Cadillac XLR-V was initially presented to the public during a commercial of a February 2005 Super Bowl, before it was later formally unveiled at the 2005 New York International Show and available on the market from early 2006. The XLR is fitted with the same engine as the STS-V, a supercharged 443 horsepower 4.4L Northstar V8 engine. This is complemented with Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed automatic transmission; 10-spoke 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels in silver finish; recalibrated Magnetic Ride Control; StabiliTrak chassis control system providing the driver with four stability modes; a larger front stabilizer bar; additional rear stabilizer bar, and stiffer rear lower control arm bushings. The two-door, two passenger sports convertible retains the signature V-series upper and lower polished wire mesh front grilles. What makes the Cadillac XLR-V a comfortable ride is details such as top grade leather covered dash and door panels, console and protective roll hoops; aluminum accents; Zingana wood fixtures, and a retractable hardtop.
