Created in 2002 by General Motors (GM), the four-door Chevrolet Avalanche joins the strength and abilities of a Sport Utility Vehicle and a pickup to become a sport utility truck. There are two engine choices with Active Fuel Management for the 2007 Avalanche: or a Vortec 6.0L V8 engine with 366 horsepower and Variable Valve Timing. Also included is the unique GM MidgateTM. By lowering the MidgateTM and folding the back seats forward, the space is turned in to an 8 foot by 4 foot protected cargo box. Additional storage space is gained by storing the removable rear window against the MidgateTM. It meets the needs of families as well as adventure seekers with its choice of rear-wheel or high/low four-wheel steering. The Chevrolet Avalanche is distinguished by the chrome strip that runs full-length across the front, splitting the two lamps and grill, and sporting the Chevrolet gold Bowtie."
