The full sized luxury sedan by Chrysler, the Chrysler 300, has seen a long history of vehicles use the name, including the 300 of today as designed by Ralph Gilles. The very first model was a limited, special edition Cordoba that was released in 1979. The name came about again in the Chrysler line up in 1999 when the company released the 300M, a front wheel drive car with a V6 engine based on the same platform as the LH model. The vehicle of today is a high performance, sporty, luxury sedan.
There are five editions of the Chrysler 300 available: the entry level models, the SRT-8, the 300C, the touring edition and the limited edition. All five editions are rear wheel drive vehicles, unlike the Mercury Montego and the Buick LaCrosse which are based on the same platform. The standard engine that comes with it is a 3.5L V6 engine, but the 300C version, the top of this particular line, comes with a 5.7L Hemi V8 engine.
