The Aspen is a new Sport Utility Vehicle from Chrysler that was launched in 2007. It is based on the same platform as the Dodge Durango. Dodge used the name Aspen for a car from 1976 to 1980 for the twin vehicle to the Plymouth Volare. The Aspen is the first SUV that is based on a truck to be commercialized by Chrysler. By the year 2006, all of the American vehicle manufacturers had included an SUV into their vehicle line up.
The Aspen is an all wheel drive that has ample seating with three rows that seats eight passengers. This SUV only comes in one series: The Limited which also has several optional packages to choose from for customization. There are typically three engines available, a gasoline-only 4.7L V8 for California and other states where the E85 engine will not meet emission requirements, a flex-fuel 4.7L V8 that can run on gasoline or E85 and a the 5.7L Hemi V8 engine with MDS. A hybrid edition of the Aspen is available in 2008.
