This popular model has found a unique niche in the crossover market. The well-received Ford Explored Sport Trac model had a three-month waiting list after it was it was first introduced in 2001. The reason for its popularity was it combined the Explorer mid-sized SUV with a pick up truck bed. The cabin through the 4-doors was included and then a truck bed was added to the body. The MPG is similar to the Explorer in that they both get 14 mpg in city driving and 19 mpg on the highway. The pickup truck bed is short but can be lengthended with an extender.
This model competes with the crew-cab trucks and crossover work vehicles for small businesses. The engine can be ordered in a V6 or V8 option. The model is very clean looking and can be obtained in nine different colors. With the V8 engine, the towing capacity is over 6700 lbs.
