If you were disappointed with the demise of the Taurus, then you will be pleased with the news of its revival in the 2008 model year. The Ford Taurus was originally replaced with the Freestyle in the 2005 model year during the time when Ford was renaming their models to begin with the letter 'F'. The Freestyle, a midsize crossover SUV/ station wagon, was released to compete with other midsize SUVs on the market including the Toyota Highlander and the Honda Pilot. Popularity of the model was not high despite the sleek and stylish design, and the Ford Motor Company decided to discontinue the model after the 2007 model year. For the 2008 model year, the Freestyle is being released as the Taurus X, brining the Taurus line back into the fleet. Sales of the Freestyle are also expected to transfer to the Flex, which is a SUV scheduled for release for the 2009 model year. "
