When Ford was preparing to release their new car, the Ford Futura, they had to fight Pep Boys in a trademark lawsuit over the name. The car parts company sells tires under the Futura brand, and although Ford has a long history with name, their trademark had expired and the courts were not impressed. The Futura was renamed and released as the Ford Fusion in the 2006 model year, and the car has so far exceeded expectations.
This midsize sedan has so far been selling well in the North American market, proudly displaying her newly designed three-bar grille, which is expected to become a signature design for the remainder of the decade. The Fusion sold 142,502 cars in 2006, pleasing the manufacturer with the car's success and securing herself a valued place in the Ford lineup for a while to come.
