The Ford Taurus is a mid-sized car with front wheel drive. For four years, 1992 to 1996, this model was the best seller in this class of cars.
The Taurus was released in 1985 and even though it was not favored to do well it almost immediately took off and became a winner. It was surprising that two years ago Ford announced it was going to replace the Taurus with three different models to try to better serve these niche markets. That decision has been changed as of 2007 and it is being brought back for the 2008 model year
It is not surprising that this twenty-year winner for Ford is being resurrected again and brought out of retirement. This is a common practice in the automobile industry. The company obviously hopes to renew the magic of the Taurus name with the car buying public.
