All automobile manufacturers seem to need a crossover SUV in their model line-up. The Acadia is GMC's answer. This model was introduced in 2006 and comes with either front wheel or all-wheel drive and a towing capacity of 4500 lbs. The eight-passenger capability is nicely fitted into a roomy interior.
Standard features include four wheel disc brakes and power steering. The engine is a V6 that produces 275 hp and the transmission is a 6 speed automatic, which delivers better fuel economy and good acceleration when it is needed. The Denali version of Acadia will have a V8 engine
A major safety feature the Acadia comes equipped with is six air bags. The design is more like a low center of gravity car and is not as prone to roll over accidents that have plagued some of the SUVs. GMC has high hopes for its first front wheel drive passenger vehicle.
