The Japanese carmaker, Honda, has held a manufacturing record since its introduction in 1972. The Honda Civic has been in continuous production, since then. The oil crisis of 1973 and the quality manufacturing gave Honda cars and the Civic a boost, which it has never relinquished.
The Civic has come along way since its first two-door coupe and three-door hatchback models. In 2003 the hybrid became available with a small gas engine and auxiliary electric motors powered by a battery array power the hybrid.
All standard models are now available in two and four door versions. The current model has several engine options including a 197 HP engine with a design that is sleek with subtle curves. The North American version is roomier and comes with more options while still delivering great mileage. The transmissions are either automatic or six or five speed manual.
Honda took advantage of the oil crisis in 1973. The quality and good workmanship has enabled them to keep its place in the small car market, they have enjoyed an unparalleled run of success in the Northern American market.
