Manufactured by the Hyundai Motor Company, the Tucson is a sporty compact crossover SUV. The vehicle is a five door wagon and offers a front engine as well as a front wheel drive or four wheel drive as an option. Consumers can also choose between two different engines for the 2005-2007 models, which is either a 2.0 liter I4 or a 2.7 liter V6, with the V6 obviously offering more in the way of horsepower. The transmission choices include a five speed manual or a four speed automatic.
The Hyundai Tucson was offered in the base trim level which was the GS, the mid-line SE, and the top of the line Limited or LX. The trim level names were changed in 2007 from GL and GLS to GLS and SE, which was the new standard for trim levels across the whole Hyundai lineup. The vehicle features dual stage front airbags, side impact bags, and curtain airbags. The Tucson received the best new Crossover award from Canadian Car of the Year for the 2005 model.
