The midsize crossover SUV market is booming, and the Hyundai Veracruz became a part of that boom in March of 2007. The vehicle is offered in the US, Canadian, and South Korean markets and is the largest SUV in the Hyundai line up, with the Santa Fe being the next largest offering. The Veracruz is expected to compete with brands such as the Toyota Highlander and the Honda Pilot. Many have suggested that the Veracruz along with other Hyundai models are eventually going to become a part of a luxury brand because marketing has likened the vehicles to Lexus and other luxury brands.
The Veracruz is built on a stretched Santa Fe frame, providing consumers with the extra cargo space they had been looking for. It has been fitted with a 3.8 liter V6 for the North American, Korean, and Canadian markets. A 3.0 liter CRDi is also being offered in South Korea. The vehicle has just enough cargo space and all of the power desired by most in this body style/class.
