The compact Jeep Patriot is an SUV that offers three drivetrains. The standard Patriot includes front-wheel drive, and there are two 4-wheel drive options, the Freedom Drive I and the Freedom Drive II. The Freedom Drive II includes a low range gear that makes the SUV trail rated for rugged off-road terrain. The standard wheel size is 16 inches. The Freedom Drive II comes with 17-inch wheels. The engine is a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder creating 173 hp and 165 ft/lbs of torque.
Inside the Patriot there are two rows of seats with room to seat 5 people. The rear bench seat and the front passenger seat fold to allow added storage, and the rear seat has a 40/60 split. Antilock brakes, side curtain airbags, and electronic stability control are standard safety features. Standard wheel size is 16-inches with steel wheels, with 17-inch aluminum wheels as an option. The base Patriot in 2007 did not include air conditioning.
