The Kia Sportage was introduced to the market in 1995 as a mini Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) before it was reintroduced in 2005 as a compact crossover SUV on a uni-body platform. Two trims are offered with the Sportage. The EX trim is only fitted with a 2.7L V6 engine providing 173 horsepower. The LX trim is fitted with 2.0L four-cylinder engine providing 140 horsepower on a four-wheel steer, and mated with five-speed manual transmission. There are options for four-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel steer on manual transmission modes. The LX trim engine can be upgraded to the V6 with automatic transmission on front- or four-wheel steer. Some safety features include traction control; four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, and six standard airbags. Touches such as air conditioning; CD player with six-speaker stereo; tinted glass, and alloy wheels provide a comfortable drive. The Kia Sportage also has spacious interiors with plenty of head- and leg-room, and up to 67 cubic feet of storage can be obtained by splitting and folding flat the rear seats for a level cargo floor."
