The Lamborghini Murcielago, with its two gull-wing doors, was introduced in 2001 as the flagship high-end sports car for Lamborghini. The two-seat Murcielago has since set several Lamborghini traditions: besides its independent double wishbone suspension, mid-mounted engine, and four-wheel steer, the coupe possesses an optimal sports car weight distribution - 42 per-cent front, 58 per-cent back, for advantages in traction, braking, and handling. The strength of it lays in its 6.2L V12 engine that is matched with six-speed manual transmission, or six-speed electro-hydraulic controlled auto-clutch transmission. Aerodynamics are augmented by side mirrors that fold in and a rear spoiler that opens to a maximum 70' at 140 mph, all without compromising stability of the vehicle. In 2006, a Murcielago LP640 (LP - Longitudinale Posteriore) model was introduced with a longitudinally mounted 6.5L V12 engine. In 2007, a LP640 Roadster model was introduced with the same facelift but with a more aggressive rear flank then was introduced in 2005."
