Land Rover replaced the Discovery Sport Utility Vehicle in 2006 with the LR3 (known as Discovery 3 outside of North America), a new version that presented the functions of its predecessor with more style. Besides a fully independent adjustable air suspension, the off-road capabilities of the LR3 are boosted with a Terrain Response system, a locking differential boost, and revolutionary on-board systems that have gained the LR3 an award from "Popular Science" magazine and named "Sport/Utility of the Year" by Motor Trend magazine in 2005. Power is supplied by a first-rate HSE trim with 300 horsepower 4.4L V8 engine, as well as a SE trim with a choice of the V8 engine or a 4.4L V6 engine providing 216 horsepower. All V8 vehicles have an additional third row of seats, which can be folded down with the second row seats for more cargo space. The refined ride provided by the LR3 is complemented with design bonuses like a sunroof, leather seats and a Harman Kardon stereo."
