Mercedes-Benz claims that its CLS Class sedans are sedans that look and drive like a coupe. The class contains two models, the CLS63 and the CLS550. The main difference between the two is the engine. The CLS63 sports a 5.5-liter supercharged V-8 rated at 507 hp in contrast to the CLS550, which has a 5.0-liter V-8 rated at 382 hp. The engines power a 7-speed automatic transmission equipped with auto-manual and overdrive. The CLS class sedans sit on 112.4-inch wheelbases. They have a coefficient of drag equaling .30.
Inside the CSL class cars there is room for up to 4 people. The car provides a quiet and smooth ride experience with comfortable seating, although headroom in the rear is somewhat limited. The front seats are powered, and a 6-disc CD changer with a Harman Kardon sound system is included standard. The car has the Pre-Safe system installed, which adjusts the interior of the car in the event of a crash to help protect passengers. Other safety features include antilock brakes, side curtain airbags, and side and front impact airbags.
