The Mitsubishi Lancer is a compact car manufactured by Mitsubishi Motors that has been sold all over the world under many various names since 1973. This stylish car has been sold as the Colt Lancer, the Dodge/Plymouth Colt, the Chrysler Valiant Lancer, the Chrysler Lancer, the Eagle Summit, the Hindustan Lancer, the Southeast Lioncel, the Misubishi Carisma, and the Mitsubishi Mirage in addition to the name Mitsubishi Lancer. There are plans to sell it as the Galant Fortis in Japan in 2007 as well.

Under all of these names, there have been over six million vehicles sold all over the world, with the cars being driven in the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, the Philippines, and more. Over the years, there have been nine generations, with the second beginning in 1978, the third and fourth in 1982, the fifth in 1988, the sixth in 1991, the seventh in 1995, the eighth in 2000, and the ninth and final (so far) model being released in 2007.
