The standard engine on the Subaru Impreza is a 2.5-liter H-4 that generates up to 173 hp and 166 lbs-ft of torque. This is the same engine found in the Outback Sport wagon model. Other engine options include the Impreza WRX's 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that generates 230 hp, and the WRX STi's 2.5-liter turbocharged engine that generates 293 hp. The Impreza is available as either a sedan or a station wagon. The main difference is that the wagon has increased storage capacity and can hold up to 27.9 cubic feet of cargo with the rear seats up, and 61.6 cubic feet of cargo with the rear seats folded.
All Imprezas come with daytime running lights, front and side-impact airbags, and antilock brakes as standard safety features. The cars can hold up to 5 passengers, and some are also equipped with 3-point seatbelts. The front seats have a height adjustment system to add to the driver's comfort.
