With its introduction into the automotive scene at the Paris Motor Show in 2006, the Volvo C30 swept into the market. This small family car was approved for production that same year by the Volvo division of the Ford Motor Company's Premier Automotive Group, and was released into the European market in late 2006 for the 2007 model year.
This three door, four seat hatchback is expected to compete with some big names like the Volkswagen Golf/Rabbit, the Audi A3, the Mini Cooper, and the BMW 1 Series. The Volvo C30 is designed to appeal to the younger generation, and they hope to use it to attract first time buyers to the Volvo name. They have included options like an upgraded sound system for just that reason.
