Dodge was first founded in the 1900s and began introducing their trucks to the automotive industry in 1917. They made vehicles used in World War I as staff automobiles and ambulances. Previously, Dodge was owned by a banking firm and was later acquired by the Chrysler Corporation. They later manufactured vehicles for use during World War II.
They were fairly successful up until the 70s when an increase in competition and a change in consumer demands caused a slight drop in their profits. Nevertheless, they applied for government assistance and made a comeback in the 80s. The creation of economy vehicles, cars that offered potential savings to consumers, helped keep the company afloat and bring the company back to the forefront of the industry. Dodge vehicles are time honored and their cars and trucks are well liked because of their longevity and durability. They are also well known for the introduction of its minivans.
